Prosecution reacts after serious accident near Bujanovac: 3 killed, suspect was transporting 14 migrants

Three people died in a serious traffic accident near Bujanovac, while several others were injured.

"On February 19, on the state road Presevo-Bujanovac, near the village of Alidjrce, municipality of Presevo, a traffic accident occurred in which 3 people were killed, while 12 were injured, including the driver. Those injured were given medical assistance in health institutions.

The accident occurred as the suspect R.R. (43) from the village of Crnotince, with the intention of obtaining benefits, was transporting 14 illegal migrants from African and Asian countries and because he was speeding drove off the road, the vehicle overturned, when death and personal injury occurred. The investigation was carried out by the on duty public prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Vranje, the Department in Bujanovac," the prosecution's statement says.

The suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours and will be brought before the public prosecutor at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Vranje for committing criminal acts - a serious offense against the safety of public traffic, illegal crossing of the state border, and people smuggling (a criminal offense under the jurisdiction of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office).
