Biden's message to Vucic on occasion of Serbia's Statehood Day

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has received a congratulatory message from US President Joseph Biden, on the occasion of Serbia's Statehood Day (Sretenje), February 15.

Among other things, it states:

"Dear Mr. President, on behalf of the people of the United States, I send my best wishes to you and the Serbian people on the occasion of the celebration of Statehood Day on February 15. Building a more successful and stable Western Balkans is in the interest of both the United States and Serbia, and I look forward to advancing this goal in the coming year by strengthening regional energy security and expanding our economic ties.

Our armed forces continue to serve side by side in Sinai, promoting regional peace and security. Serbia's participation in UN and EU peacekeeping missions is also crucial for supporting stability in other parts of the world. And, the United States appreciates the support that Serbia gives to Ukraine in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity faced with Russia's brutal invasion," the message reads.

It is added that the United States strongly supports Serbia's path towards EU accession and remains committed to helping Serbia strengthen its democratic institutions towards the fulfillment of this goal.

"Also, I encourage Serbia to continue with last year's progress achieved in the dialogue with Kosovo, mediated by the EU. The agreement on normalization and implementation represents a key step towards a more peaceful and successful future for Serbia, the region, and Europe."
