"UN Security Council session was small but significant victory for Serbia": Vucic presented his arguments
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said that the session of the UN Security Council was a small but significant victory for Serbia and that it was important that it was open, because Serbia could present its arguments and facts.
"We got an open session, where our arguments could be heard, which were not without real content, which were not without facts, and which many did not even want to hear, countless times. That seems to me to be something important that we got," Vucic said after the urgent session of the UN Security Council, when responding to a journalist's question about what Serbia gained from it.
He also mentioned that the US representative said during the meeting that the UN Security Council is not the place to discuss Kosovo and Metohija.
"Unfortunately, thanks to the decisions made in 2010, this place was not important for deciding on the Kosovo and Metohija issue. I am happy and grateful to the Americans that we finally had an open session. Because with them, you always only hear what Kurti is saying, and they would almost never hear our arguments," said Vucic.
The president added that it was Serbia that fought at the UN Security Council last night, not Aleksandar Vucic.
"You know, when we came here, on a regular flight, from Serbia, I had an hour just to make some preparations. I was preparing on the plane. I was reading, watching, correcting, translating," the president explained.
He added that he is proud of Serbia, which dares to behave responsibly, seriously and which dares to preserve its spirit of freedom and to speak directly and frankly and protect itself and its future.
"Our people should know that we will fight for them as they will fight for the truth. Always and all our lives, about Banjska and everything else. And we will not take the easier path that everyone would choose, but if necessary, the more difficult one, but the freedom-loving, Serbian path," said Vucic.
He stressed that he and the Serbian representatives in the UN Security Council fought for their country.
"Some others fought against our country. The only thing I can say in the end is that today was a small but significant victory for Serbia," concluded Vucic.
