Vucic holds urgent meeting with cabinet ministers because of Kurti's decision to ban the dinar
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic held an emergency meeting with some Serbian government ministers late on Tuesday, after Prime Minister of the Pristina Provisional Institutions Albin Kurti rejected a proposal from the US, the EU and the Quint countries (Italy, France, Germany, and the UK in addition to the US), and decided that the ban on the use of the dinar in Kosovo and Metohija would begin today, Tanjug was told at the Presidency last night.
At the meeting held in the Presidency, the next steps that Belgrade will take in relation to this were discussed.
The special envoy of the European Union for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak announced earlier yesterday in Pristina that the government of the provisional institutions will present information about the banning of the Serbian dinar in Kosovo and Metohija on Wednesday.
Lajcak, after a meeting with Albin Kurti and Vjosa Osmani, the president of the provisional Pristina institutions, said that the central bank's decision there, to suspend the dinar was discussed, but he did not wish to provide more details.
"We mentioned the issue of the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo, but I will not be a spokesperson for the Kosovo government. Information will be announced tomorrow," Lajcak said.
