Hague trial of former leaders of so called Kosovo Liberation Army continues

The trial against the former leaders of the so-called KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army") Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi continues today before the Specialized Chambers ("KLA crimes court").

Their trial began on April 3, 2022, and they have been in custody in The Hague since October, that is, November 2020.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office announced earlier that there are more than 300 witnesses who will testify during this legal process.

Thaci, Veseli, Krasniqi and Selimi stand accused of persecution of people on political and ethnic grounds, imprisonment, illegal arrest and detention, other inhumane acts, cruel treatment, forced disappearance, torture and murder.

These crimes were happening in the period from March 1998 to September 1999 in several places in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as in Kukes and Cahan in the north of Albania.

Those crimes are qualified as crimes against humanity and war crimes.

During 1998 and 1999, the co-called the KLA committed numerous crimes, murders and kidnappings against members of the Yugoslav army and Serbian police, as well as civilians - Serbs, other non-Albanians, and Albanians who refused to join KLA's ranks or become their helpers.
