These parts of Serbia will have 10 to 20 cm of snow this weekend: Only one part of the country will be sunny
Today will bring a short-term stabilization of weather in Serbia, but not for long, because a significant change will follow already during the night. Friday will be mostly sunny and the strong northwesterly wind will be weakening. The maximum temperature will be from 6 to 12 degrees Celsius, in Belgrade up to 10°C.
During the evening, a cold front is expected to reach the northern province of Vojvodina, bringing in clouds and rain, and this deterioration will during the night spread to other parts of Serbia.
In the second half of the night and before morning, snow is expected all hills and mountains, but the precipitation will be transient and moderate in nature and associated with the penetration of the cold front.
On mountains like Zlatar, Kopaonik, Stara Planina and other higher mountains, 10 to 20 centimeter of snow is expected. There will also be snow on Serbia's lower-lying mountains, while a shallow snow cover may also form in the lower regions of southern, southeastern and western Serbia, but will rapidly thaw.
At the same time, in the second half of the night, the north of Serbia is expected to clear up, first in Vojvodina, so it will be sunny during the day on Saturday. In other regions of Serbia, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy, only in some places with light precipitation, in the lower regions in the form of rain, while it will snow on the mountains.
In the night between Saturday and Sunday and during the week, the regions of Serbia south of the Sava and the Danube can expect a new wave of precipitation, but not in any significant amount. Mostly rain and sleet are expected in the lower regions, snow in the hills and mountains. There will be showers, local and short-term, so it will not significantly affect an increase of snow.
It will be dry in the north, and clear in Vojvodina.
When it comes to Belgrade, Friday evening and the following night will be overcast with rain that will clear up before morning. During the weekend, it will be mostly dry, only in the night between Saturday and Sunday and a part of Sunday in the wider area of the city short-term and very localized rain or sleet are forecast, while there could be short spells of snowfall in the higher parts of the city.
Although a cold front is expected to pass through Serbia, no significant drop in air temperatures is expected. Morning temperatures on Saturday will be from -4°C in the south to 4°C in the north of Serbia, the daily highs from 6 to 10°C, and on Sunday morning from -3 to 3°C, during the day from 3 to 9°C. Maximum temperatures in Belgrade will be up to 8°C on Saturday, up to 6°C on Sunday, while it will be below 0°C on the higher mountains throughout the day.
In other words, the cold front will not be affect Serbia so much as a drop in temperatures, but will bring more wind.
On Saturday, a strong northwesterly wind with gusts above 50 km/h will blow in most of Serbia. Although strong, such winds are not rare in our regions and there is no need to panic. Locally in Vojvodina, on the mountains and in the east of Serbia, stormy gusts of northwesterly winds of 70 km/h are expected.
On the second day of the weekend, the wind will be weakening.
Otherwise, a significant increase in air pressure is expected during the weekend and this will be a prelude to a stabilization of the weather, so under the influence of very high air pressure, next week will be stable and dry.
