Ratko Mladic has pacemaker implanted, doctors from Banja Luka request permission to examine him
Former commander of the RS Army Ratko Mladic underwent surgery on January 8 in a Dutch hospital, where he had a pacemaker implanted, his son Darko Mladic said, RTS is quoting an RTRS report.
Darko Mladic says that a date is expected to be set when four doctors from Banja Luka will be able to visit him.
The director of the University Clinical Center (UKC) of the RS (Serb Republic, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina), Vlado Djajic, said that in the next few days an answer to the request to allow a team of doctors to examine Ratko Mladic should arrive from The Hague.
"The medical team is ready to go to The Hague as soon as the approval arrives. It includes a cardiologist, a forensic psychiatrist, the head of neurology and myself," Djajic added, reports RTRS.
He stressed that the UKC medical team wants to examine Mladic and his documentation and contribute to his better treatment, to determine which drugs he should use and where he should be treated.
"I'm glad that after our request, they already did some procedure and implanted a pacemaker," said Djajic.
The former commander of the RS Army is serving a life sentence in The Hague.
