Dacic arrives in Kampala for the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in Uganda

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic arrived in Kampala where he will participate in the Ministerial meeting today and on Friday, January 19, of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Uganda.

Between 1,000 and 1,500 delegates are expected to attend the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, and geopolitical tensions, wars and humanitarian crises are at the top of the agenda, according to local media.

About a year ago, Dacic participated in the Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, in the format of the Contact Group, in Azerbaijan, and at the time thanked numerous members of that movement who stand by Serbia and are consistent regarding respecting the principles of international law by not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.

At this year's Summit in Kampala, the host, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who last year visited Serbia and met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, will also speak.

Museveni at the time assessed that he had useful talks in Belgrade and pointed out that he came to visit Serbia in order to renew cooperation between the two countries.

During the visit, Museveni recalled the importance of the Non-Aligned Movement and emphasized that Yugoslav companies, especially Energoprojekt, built very good infrastructure in Uganda.

The Non-Aligned Movement is the largest group of states worldwide after the United Nations, with 120 members, 18 observer countries and 10 international organizations also with observer status.
