Brnabic responds to repeated accusations coming from Austria's Schieder
In response to what she said were repeated accusations related to the integrity of the recently held Serbian elections, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic penned a eresponse to Austrian observer Andreas Schieder.
She then went through a list of examples of this behavior:
"In his media statements, Schieder alleged that he 'saw phantom ballots, heard that 50,000 people were brought to Belgrade, and testimonies of vote buying'. However, if one looks at the official records from the 4 voting stations he visited, one will see that he did not report any objections or concerns about the election process. In response to repeated accusations (https://t.co/y0slSdMh4Z), let me, again, point out very concrete examples of questionable conduct of @SCHIEDER – to which we have no answer for weeks now:1. In his media statements, @SCHIEDER alleged that he “saw phantom ballots, heard that…— Ana Brnabic (@anabrnabic) January 16, 2024
How come that, out of 475 international observers present during the elections in Serbia, he is the only one who openly, and continuously, directly violates the Code of Conduct for ODIHR Observers and its explicit request for observers to refrain from making public comments on electoral processes or their observations? Is the Code of Conduct something that is generally irrelevant for Schieder in other matters as well?
I have never criticized Schieder – I have simply stated the facts (above) and asked relevant questions of interest to Serbia's public. On the other hand, when the media in Serbia which he is so fond of (N1, Nova), are continuously attacking his fellow MEP Vladimir Bilcik, has he reacted, voiced his concern or defended this MEP? NO. NEVER. So much so for (the lack of) values and principles."
