MUP on next steps they will take related to frequent bombs threats sent to schools
Due to the frequent reports about explosive devices being planted in schools, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced that it has engaged all human and material-technical resources to improve the safety of children, and that it is, in cooperation with the competent prosecutor's office, undertaking activities to identify and prosecute those responsible.
From the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year until today, a total of 80 reports were received, sent to several dozen email addresses of various educational institutions in Serbia. Responding to each individual report, the police officers acted responsibly and professionally, performed all necessary checks, based on which it was determined that the reports were false.
In this sense, every day, since the beginning of the school year, around 2,500 police officers are securing all schools in Serbia, and they are always ready to react quickly in order to protect children.
In accordance with a special plan and program, police officers will conduct training for employees in pre-university and university educational institutions, which will include: access control measures, preventive inspection of the premises of the institution, as well as a designating of a safe place, based on the positive experiences in countries that are facing a similar problem.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs is cooperating intensively with all relevant institutions on the national and international level to identify the IP addresses of the senders of the reports, and their users, and by the end of tomorrow, an extensive international operation is expected in order to arrest persons connected to the fake bomb threats.
Such reports, as a type of special psychological warfare, represent an attempt to destabilize the Republic of Serbia, cause panic and upset its citizens.
The most important priority for the Ministry of the Interior is the safety of children as the most sensitive category, and police officers will persistently continue with all activities to make sure that children are growing up in a safe and carefree environment.
