Van with 36 migrants stopped at Vrcin: Here's who was arrested in major police and BIA operation in Belgrade

The Belgrade police, in cooperation with members of the BIA, arrested N.H. (48) and V.O. (37) for illegal crossing of the state border and for people smuggling, while N.H. is also charged with assaulting an on-duty official person.

The police stopped a van driven by V.O. close to the Vrcin toll booth and found 36 irregular migrants in the vehicle, while in front of it N.H. was driving an Audi and, as suspected, informed the van driver about the presence of the police on the road.

It is suspected that N.H. disobeyed the order given by the officers to stop his vehicle, continued moving and on that occasion damaged a police car, and then hit a street light pole before finally stopping and getting arrested.

The suspects will be detained for up to 48 hours, and they will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade along with a criminal complaint.
