Vanja's killers didn't ask ransom from mother: Prosecutor reveals new details of horror story shaking Balkans
The suspects for the kidnapping and murder of 14-year-old Vanja Gorchevska from Skopje did not even contact her mother to demand a ransom, North Macedonian prosecutor Gavrilo Bubevski has revealed.
According to him, the kidnappers were afraid that the police would discover their plan, so they murdered the girl before her mother was informed about the ransom demand.
Appearing on TV Nova, Bubevski said that the suspects for the murder of the teenager Vanja and the elderly hairdresser Panche Zhizhovski face a sentence of ten years in prison, but also a life sentence.
"The latest information is that those arrested have been detained for 48 hours, which includes Vanja's father. Three have confessed, and the fourth, for whom we have evidence of his involvement has not confessed to anything. An international warrant for the murderer is active and we are waiting for that to complete. The details of the father's role are still the same. He gave all the information about the girl's movements (to the kidnappers), the times she would be on her own, and the like. The kidnapping of the girl is related to monetary interest, that's what the suspects said, they kidnapped the child to take money from the mother. Afterwards the murder occurred, which shook the entire nation," Bubevski said on TV Nova.
14-year-old Vanja was abducted on November 27 at around 7:20 am when she was on her way to school. She was overpowered and tied up at the entrance of the building where she lived. The child was killed on the same day, and her body was found on December 3 in the village of Brazda on the outskirts of Skopje. Not far from there, a burnt car in which she was transported was also found.
The investigation has revealed the horrors of the child's last hours.
