Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic was this morning in Palic, near Subotica in northern Serbia, to welcome his Hungarian counterpart Janos Lazar, who was traveling on the first passenger train on the Szeged-Subotica route after the reconstruction of this railway.

"Now on this section, trains move at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. This railway is yet more proof of the excellent relations between Serbia and Hungary and the strategic partnership established by President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Viktor Orban," the minister said on his YouTube account.

This was the first train to arrive at Palic from Szeged, Hungary after eight years, and starting today five trains will run between Subotica and Szeged each day.

After welcoming the first passenger train on this route, Vesic went on a tour of construction works on the underpass in Kosovska Street in Subotica.

As stated, the completion of these works is expected in late to mid January.
