We reveal where the most brutal murderer and rapist of two girls in Serbia is now
Dragan "Combe" Nikolic (60) was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the gruesome murder of Tamara Ivanovic (13) in Batajnica in 2005, and to 15 years for the rape of N.S. (12) in Opovo, i.e. to a combined sentence of 40 years, and as we have unofficially learned, he has not had any visitors in prison for a long time.
"He is calm, quiet and keeps himself to himself. He has no visitors. Specifically, no one has visited him for a long time," we have been told, and as we previously reported, he shares a cell with an inmate.
"He shares a cell with another inmate. He task is to clean the prison's corridors."
One of the most gruesome crimes committed against children happened on November 21, the Serbian Orthodox feast of St. Archangel Michael, in 2005.
"The girl approached him to help him, but he immediately attacked Tamara for no reason, using a knife he carried in his pocket. He struck the first blow, out of a total of 19, in the area of the victim's heart, as a result of which she died immediately," Colonel Milorad Veljovic, then head of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia (MUP), said at the time.
The trial
At the trial, Nikolic defended himself by saying that he committed the crime while drunk and that at that moment, he perceived the girl as an attacker. But a forensic expert determined that he could not have delivered such precise blows while inebriated.
"It has been established without any doubt that on November 21, 2005, on a dirt road near the Sangaj Railway Station in Batajnica, (Belgrade suburb) Nikolic killed Tamara in an insidious manner, when the girl approached him to help him get up, after he fell. He stabbed her 19 times in the back and chest with a kitchen knife," Judge Mirjana Ilic said as she explained the verdict.
During the sentencing, Nikolic laughed mockingly, and during the evidentiary proceedings, he claimed that he only read in the newspaper the next day that a young girl had been murdered and realized that he was "probably" the one who did it.
He sold Tamara's phone at the Pancevo market, having removed the SIM card he night of the murder, which was yet more proof that he had been aware of his actions as he committed the crime.
The rape
Dragan Nikolic was also convicted for the rape of a 12-year-old girl, S.N.
He took the victim out of an elementary school class after talking with her teacher, and then took her to the exit from Opovo. In a grove next to a dried up canal, Nikolic first beat the child unconsciousness, and then raped her.
