Drecun: Belgrade has shown that it is committed to dialogue and reaching agreements
Drecun stressed that it is very important that today (Thursday) there were discussions with Lajcak regarding the key issue of the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija)
Milovan Drecun, the chairmain of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija of the National Assembly of Serbia, commented on yesterday's round of the technical level dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina with EU's special envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak, held in Brussels, by saying that Belgrade has shown that it is absolutely committed to dialogue and reaching agreements and solutions.
"Belgrade has shown that it is absolutely ready and committed to dialogue, to reaching agreements and solutions, which was demonstrated by the fact that the team of the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, was composed of 18 people who are experts in their fields. On the other hand, you see Pristina's unwillingness to reach agreement on anything," Drecun told Tanjug.
Drecun pointed out that the current setup of the Franco-German plan encourages Pristina not to make progress in searching for an agreement.
"The main culprit for such behavior of Pristina is the West, it is the Franco-German plan that was wrongly set up. It was set up on the basis of treating Kosovo as a state and introducing de facto recognition of that fake state by Belgrade, by the back door," said Drecun.
According to him, the Pristina side respects what has been signed only when it suits it. Drecun stressed that it is very important that there were discussions yesterday with Lajcak regarding the key issues of the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija).
"We see that it is clear to Lajcak and to everyone in the political West that without an agreement and concrete steps to form the ZSO, it will not be possible to discuss other topics," said Drecun.
He added that everyone in the political West is in a hurry to resolve the issue of Kosovo and Metohija because of US and European Parliament elections next year. Drecun assessed for Tanjug that the West is trying to completely reject the Brussels Agreement from 2013 and 2015 which regards the principles for the formation of the ZSO.
"They have completely rejected the draft of the statute that our management team had made, the management team that included Serb representatives, which was in accordance with the agreement. Then the West came out with its new draft, around which new talks are being held," explained Drecun.
He pointed out that the US and the EU have the political power to force Pristina to behave a certain way.
"It is constantly being said that (Albin) Kurti is unyielding, that he cannot be convinced, that he leads his own independent policies. These are stories for little kids, the political power, strength and influence of the US and the EU is sufficient (to influence him)," said Drecun.
Drecun stressed that Belgrade's resistance to recognizing so-called Kosovo (as independent) will never be broken.
"As long as you cultivate the illusion that you will be able to force us, through various political manipulations, fraudulent behavior, pressure, threats, it will not be possible to achieve progress and any kind of agreement. Pristina sees this and is encouraged to insist to now. instead of the ZSO, put on the agenda as priority issue the recognition of the fake state," concluded Drecun.
