Petkovic on meeting between Vucic and Lajcak: In 2 days we'll go to Brussels, conversation will continue
They met at 11 o'clock
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic met with Special Representative of the European Union for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and other regional issues in the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajcak at 11 a.m., in the building of the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic in Belgrade.
The meeting was also attended by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, who later presented the details from the conversation.
He stated that the ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalties in Kosovo and Metohija) was also on the agenda, and added as that the talks will continue in Brussels in two days' time.
"The conversation between Vucic and Lajcak was serious, the president informed him about the gravity of the situation faced by the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and provided information and facts about the daily threats experienced by the Serbs, and (Albin) Kurti's escalating moves. It is important that we look for solutions, peace is the most precious thing. We must not jeopardize peace.
De-escalation on the ground is necessary, it is necessary to see the normality of life in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, which is threatened every day. But it is also important that we finally enter into discussions about the statute of the ZSO, as well as the executive powers it has in accordance with the agreements from 2013 and 2015. Belgrade has the full right to finance those institutions," he stated.
Earlier today, Lajcak met with the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.
Last week, Lajcak was in Pristina, where he pointed out that the goal of his visit was to lay the groundwork for the upcoming meeting of the main (technical level) negotiators, which has been announced for November 16.
Petar Petkovic and Besnik Bislimi are supposed to meet then, with EU's mediation.
The last time the two sides were in Brussels was on October 26, when President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of Pristina's provisional institutions Albin Kurti held separate meetings with EU representatives.
