Mexico will always respect the integrity and sovereignty of every country, including Serbia, of course, in accordance with Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council, and this also means that Mexico's position not to recognize Kosovo as a state will certainly not change, Mexican Ambassador to Serbia Carlos Isauro Felix Corona has said, writes Tanjug.

In an interview for today's edition of Politika, he said that the authorities of so-called Kosovo always insist in various ways that Mexico should recognize their existence, but that despite this, his country will not change its position.

"We will respect the territorial integrity of Serbia. Mexico does not even recognize any document issued by Kosovo," Corona said.

He expressed great satisfaction with the level of relations between Serbia and Mexico, who this year mark the 77th anniversary since the establishment of formal diplomatic ties.

Speaking about how he sees the situation in Serbia, he said that you can immediately notice how much Serbia has progressed and that the economic conditions are much better compared to, as he said, the sad times he spent in Belgrade 30 years ago.

"Serbia is an economic and cultural leader in the region, primarily thanks to the fact that it has very talented citizens, mostly very educated. I am glad that it attracts foreign investments more and more often, and the reason is the potential that investors recognize in Serbia," said Korona.

He stressed that Serbia is a rich country, with great natural resources and human capital and that it seems important to him that Serbia in the process of economic development thinks about market diversification and that Mexico is the gateway to the North American and Latin American markets.

"Serbian companies could take advantage of the opportunities on the American continent, where Mexico can be an important partner. Serbia also has significant tourism potential that needs to be used much more. We can cooperate in this area," he said.

The diplomat added that Mexico is one of the most visited countries in the world, with more than 32 million foreign visitors last year.
