The shooting of a man (57) in Kac, northern Serbia, was preceded by family drama that has been going on for years, and which culminated in recent months, when, according to the neighbors, the son started harassing his 86-year-old father, as well as other family members.

He was reported to the police about two months ago for domestic violence, when he was questions, but according to the neighbors, he "promised not to do it again."

"It's terrible what he was doing to his parents and his sister, he abused them mentally and physically, and his father suffered from dementia and needed help. However, he (the shooting victim) was constantly driving caretakers away," says one of the locals, who added that the issue arose because of the greed of the son who wanted all the family's land and the farm for himself.

As our interlocutor says, the father reached his "breaking point" today, and shot his son, using a hunting rifle that he legally owned.

The pellets grazed the son and his life is not in danger, we have learned from a source close to the investigation.

The police and forensic experts are investigating the scene, the street is closed to traffic. The locals say that they will do their best to make sure the father is not taken to jail, because he is ill and they believe that he was acting in necessary self-defense.

Also, according to neighbors, the man who got shot threatened his sister by sending her text messages every day, telling her that she must not come to the house and that she would lose everything.
