Serbian prime minister visits China: "I'm using every opportunity to talk to businesspeople"

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic who is meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping today began her working visit to Beijing witt meetings with represetatives of Chinese companies.

She spoke with HBIS Group, which owns the steelworks in Smederevo, Serbia, and then with JD.com about the possibilities of promoting Serbian products and the tourist potential of Serbia on the Chinese market.

The prime minister stated that she uses every moment of her stay in China for talks with Chinese businesspeople in order to secure new investments.

Brnabic also visited the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In a conversation with representatives of the genetics and bioinformatics company BGI, which has a development center in Belgrade with 17 engineers, Brnabic said that she supports cooperation with that company as the central point of the Bio4 campus.

The BGI company is a partner for genome sequencing and bioinformatics, it also cooperates with faculties from Serbia and scientific institutes and provides scholarships to students from Serbia.

"I am very happy that we have a system of tuition fees and student exchange. Without it, we would not have been able to achieve our biotech strategy," said Brnabic.
