Lajcak: I will soon invite the main negotiators to Brussels
The EU envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, has announced that he will soon invite the main negotiators to Brussels to discuss the next steps, and assessed that the focus should now be on improving the implementation of the agreement on normalization, without preconditions or delays.
In his summary of the past week published X, he stated that during the talks in Brussels, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister of Pristina's provisional institutions, Albin Kurti, were ready to implement the agreement, but that they had disagreements about the modalities.
Lajcak explained that Kurti and Vucic had questions and comments and added that he hoped they would be clarified in the coming weeks.
Lajcak pointed out that the statute of the ZSO proposes a modern European way to solve the sensitive issue of minority protection in accordance with the best European practices and standards, and does not cross the red lines of the parties that were previously defined.
He also stated that ZSO (Community of Serb Municipalities) is not the only element that needs to be implemented.
"Serbia also has many outstanding obligations from the agreement and we need to see that the implementation progresses in parallel, so that both Kosovo and Serbia get what they agreed on. Now the focus should be on improving the implementation of the agreement without preconditions or delays. As the three European leaders clearly pointed out, formalities should not stand in the way of this important process. With that in mind, I will invite the main negotiators to Brussels soon to discuss the next steps," concluded Lajcak.
