Vucic: I will never sign off on the presence of Kosovo in the UN
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has said that he is always ready to sign everything that is needed to be fulfilled, when it comes to solving the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, but never the presence of Kosovo in the UN and the issue concerning independence of Kosovo, territorial integrity of Kosovo.
At a press conference after a meeting with senior leaders in Brussels, journalist asked the president if it was true that he said that he had no problem signing the offered agreement, but that he wanted so-called Kosovo to first fulfill what has already been signed, Vucic replied that that this not the essence and that the problem is not whether he will sign something.
"I didn't say that I didn't have any problems, but that's not the point. I'm ready to sign whatever you want, from everything that we need to fulfill, except for these things that I said - the presence of Kosovo in the UN and the issue of Kosovo's independence, territorial integrity Kosovo, no, everything else - yes," said the president.
Vucic stressed that he has repeated this many times, and that this is nothing new.
"This is nothing new, nothing from today, yesterday or two months ago. I said the same thing a year ago, a month ago, eight months ago and three months ago and a few days ago. The bottom line is, they don't have to. It used to be that they should do what had been signed first, and now there's no problem with it being done in parallel. But I know that they (Pristina) won't fulfill it," said the president.
Vucic pointed out that we should look at how journalists from Serbia are waiting to see if he is going to say one thing or the other, and then at journalists from Pristina.
"They will all jump on you, to explain to you that they don't have to (do it), and don't need to fulfill what they signed. Not what they accepted or said, but what they signed, and sorry but you will have to," said the president.
When asked by a journalist what is the future of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina if the prime minister of Pristina's provisional institutions, Albin Kurti, is making imposing sanctions against Serbia as a precondition, the president replied that they are playing games with the aim of shifting the blame to the other side.
"These were all someone's games in order to try to shift the blame to the other side, and we just had to go through it the whole time. I think that today the leaders, as well as the advisors who came in the late afternoon are incomparably clearer on the situation than before," said the president.
