Vucic presents Richard Grenell with Order of the Serbian Flag, 1st class: You are a friend of Serbia

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic today presents Richard Grenell with the Order of the Serbian Flag, 1st class.

This decoration is given for distinguished merit in developing and strengthening peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between Serbia and the US.

"With pride and gratitude I can say that I am presenting the order to a friend of Serbia. Objectivity, intellectual and political honesty. His extraordinary involvement in the Balkans is a testimony of his faith in the future of the region. Conversations with him have not always been easy. But Ambassador Grenell never made threats, or punished those who refused to be obedient. He put the economy above policing, and he understood that when we solve economic problems, we will also solve some of the political ones. Thank you for your extraordinary efforts to improve relations between Serbia and the US," said Vucic.

Grenell said that it was not his idea to put the economy before politics, but that of Donald Trump (whose envoy he was) and thanked the former US president.

"I also believe that I am the only person who received awards from both Kosovo and Serbia," he said and added that he has been very clear and critical of (Albin) Kurti.

"Now the pressure must be on Mr. Kurti to implement what Mr. Thaci promised. The international community must put pressure on him to fulfill what he promised to do," Grenell said.
