The Higher Court in Belgrade ordered detention lasting up to 30 days for seven persons suspected of illegal production of cannabis in Borca, a Belgrade suburb, meant for further sale, from whom a total of 500 kilograms of this narcotic drug was seized.

Aleksandar G. (39), Vladimir L. (45), Aleksandar L. (32), Sandra J. (33), Katarina B. (39), Mladen I. and Vladimir K. (44) were detained because of circumstances indicating that they would repeat the crime in a short period of time, the spokesperson of that court, Milica Velickovic, told Tanjug.

The suspects previously chose to remain silent during the questioning, that is, they used their legal right not to present a defense. They were charged with the criminal offense of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs carried out by a group.

The Prosecutor's Office announced that it will also order a financial investigation against all the suspects, as there are grounds to suspect that they possess substantial assets resulting from a criminal offense.

They are suspected of, as an organized group, illegally producing and processing marijuana in a specially made laboratory in Borca, in a hall of about 200 square meters, on the first floor a the house and in a shed behind the house.

The complete production process, from planting to packaging took place in these three rooms equipped with chemical preparations and technical devices used for cultivation, growth and processing of the narcotic drug.
