Israeli embassy confirms kidnapping of Israeli Serbian: "Serbia became 42nd country on nightmarish list"
The Embassy of Israel in Serbia has confirmed that Alon Ohel, a 22-year-old Israeli Serbian, was kidnapped in Israel during a Hamas attack.
"Alon Ohel was kidnapped during a music festival in southern Israel by Hamas terrorists," the embassy posted on X, along with a photo of the young man.
Israeli Ambassador Yahel Vilan added that, "unfortunately, Serbia has become the 42nd country on that nightmarish list."
Unfortunately, Serbia has become the 42nd country on that nightmarish list. We pray for a very quick release of Alon and all other innocent hostages.#bringthemhome https://t.co/JWI8nKnumV pic.twitter.com/M5epkYwPKl— amb Yahel Vilan (@AmbassadorVilan) October 17, 2023
"We pray for a very quick release of Alon and all other innocent hostages," Vilan wrote.
During a terrorist attack carried out by Hamas in Israel, the 22-year-old man with Serbian roots, Alon Ohel, was among those kidnapped, as his mother Edit Ohel - whose family is originally from Novi Sad - told Kosovo Online earlier.
He managed to hide in a shelter along with a group of others, and was according to her "catching grenades thrown inside by Hamas and was throwing them out, trying to protect himself and others."
One of Alon's friends later woke up in Haifa's Rambam Hospital and said he saw terrorists taking Alon away alive.
He is suspected to have been taken to the Gaza Strip, along with dozens of other hostages.
