First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic received on Wednesday Deputy Director General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and Director for Western Europe, the Western Balkans, Turkey and Great Britain Marko Makovec.

Dacic informed the interlocutor in detail about the latest developments in Kosovo and Metohija, particularly emphasizing all the measures taken by Serbia in order to deescalate the situation.

"We reiterated our principled determination that all open issues in the process of normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina should be resolved in a peaceful manner, with respect for all agreements reached so far, primarily the Brussels Agreement, which was reached with the mediation of the European Union," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Makovec, it added, "underlined serious concern regarding the events in Banjska on September 24 and the importance of determining the circumstances through an investigation."

He stressed the necessity of decreasing tensions, deescalation and return to dialogue under the auspices of the EU.

Also, the current moment of the European integration of Serbia was discussed, with special reference to reforms undertaken in the previous period. The mutual conclusion is that the reform process must be continued and the negotiation process accelerated, in accordance with the strategic foreign policy goal of Serbia to join the EU.

Makovec mentioned initiatives related to the enlargement process. Dacic exchanged opinions with Makovec on the most important international issues of mutual interest for Serbia and the European Union, the statement added.
