Population census in Kosovo to be postponed?
Director of the Agency for Statistics Ilir Berisha said that it is possible that the population census process in Kosovo will be postponed again, because, according to him, the necessary equipment has not yet been provided, reports Kosovo Online.
The census was originally supposed to be held in 2021, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic, while this year it was to start on September 1, but got postponed again, writes Pristina-based Koha.
Berisha said that apart from the fact that the tablets used for data collection in the field have not been provided, there are not yet enough census takers.
"Currently, we have finished the prosecutor's office projects, but we are facing challenges. The provision of tablets is a challenge, and this affects the training of census takers. We announced a competition on September 26, but by October 2 there were not enough applications and we were forced to extend it until October 6. This failure will affect other activities," said Berisha.
The census is expected to begin on November 1 and last until December 15.
"The methodology remains the same, door-to-door registration, but instead of paper questionnaires tablets will now be used and applications that provide higher quality data," Berisha said.
