As they announced today, opposition deputies started blocking the work of the Serbian National Assembly, namely a session whose agenda included a budget revision, which is why the Serbian prime minister told them that the deputies from the ruling coalition will not back down, because they have to work for Serbia, Tanjug is reporting.

After the agenda of the 5th extraordinary session of the National Assembly got adopted along with a proposal to hold a joint general hearing on all 25 points on the agenda, the deputies got up from their seats and, booing and whistling from the outside, started to hinder the work of the Assembly and the presentation by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who recalled that the revision of the budget provides money for pensioners, mothers and children.

"If they succeed in the blockade, they will have not blocked Ana Brnabic and (finance minister) Sinisa Mali, the Government of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, they will not have blocked any of us, their idea is to prevent a raise for pensioners, because that increase is envisaged by this revision. If they succeed in the blockade, which we must not allow to happen, they will prevent mothers of children up to the age of 16 from receiving one-time assistance, because this is all provided for in this budget revision," said Brnabic.

"If we give up, if we back down, those children will be left without that one-time help, and that's exactly at a time when we managed to increase the birth rate. We must not give up, whatever you (opposition) do, we will not give up, we will fight for mothers, for children, for farmers... you can do whatever you want, we will never give up," said Brnabic.

Brnabic stressed that the louder the opposition is, the harder they (the ruling parties) will fight, because if the opposition wins, there will be no (higher) salaries and pensions and no (new) roads - instead, everything will be the way it was when they were in power.
