Serbian engineers and managers going to China for high-speed rail management training
Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic said today that a group of Serbian engineers and managers in the field of railway infrastructure will travel to China next month, in order to gain experience from their Chinese colleagues in managing high-speed railways.
He recalled that works are underway to build the section of the high-speed railway from Novi Sad to Subotica, in the length of 108 kilometers, which will be completed by the end of next year.
"As soon as in 2025, after our Hungarian partners finish their part from Budapest to the border, we will connect the two capital cities with a high-speed railway. With this project, we are changing the face of our country. High-speed railways have never been built in Serbia, and the experience that our experts will gain in China will be valuable for them, for future engineers, for railway maintenance," the minister said.
He stressed that after the high-speed railway to the north, the state is starting to build a high-speed railway to Nis, which will continue to North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania.
A high-speed railway from Belgrade via Zagreb and Ljubljana to Vienna and Venice is also planned, the Belgrade-Bar railway is being overhauled, while regional railroads are either built of overhauled.
"Almost nothing was invested in railways until 2015. Today, the state invests billions in the construction and renovation. Next year will be the year of railways, and that is why it is especially important that we have experts whose knowledge and skills correspond to the needs of the new age. In China, they will be able to gain experience in managing sophisticated technologies, which they will then transfer to their colleagues in Serbia," said Vesic and thanked the Chinese government for the invitation extended to Serbian experts.
The Belgrade-Budapest railway is being built by a Chinese Railways consortium. The Chinese government will in September organize a course dedicated to construction, management and maintenance of high-speed railways, to which Serbian experts have been invited.
The training will include three modules - railway engineering and construction technology, railway management technology and railway maintenance technology.
