A 30-year-old man from Kragujevac drowned on a beach in Lefkada where he went with his friends, Telegraf.rs has learned.

The tragedy happened on Tuesday at Megali Petra beach in Kalamitsi.

According to media reports, a young man from Serbia entered the water while the waves were high, and only a few minutes later others who were on the beach saw him floating, unconscious.

Swimmers pulled him out of the water and tried to resuscitate him until the ambulance arrived. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The body has been transported to the Department of Forensic Medicine in Patras, in order to perform an autopsy.

Telegraf.rs has learned that the man was on vacation with his girlfriend and two friends.
