Today expires the deadline municipal inspectors in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica gave to employees of four institutions of the Government of Serbia to leave the building where they have been working for more than a decade.

The officials of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Service of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, the Kosovska Mitrovica Administrative District and the Center for Social Welfare Vucitrn, located in the Bosnjacka Mahala settlement do not intend to leave the offices where they have been working for a decade or longer, reports Tanjug.

These four offices employ 40 people who provide services to several tens of thousands of users in Serb areas in the north, but also in the south.

The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said earlier regarding the ultimatum that with these moves, Albin Kurti wants to put the livelihoods of those people is jeopardy, as well as the right to work and receive assistance.

The European Union expressed "concern about the impact on the security situation of the recent decisions of the North Mitrovica municipality administration on the use of public space and municipal buildings."

EU spokesman Peter Stano assessed that this decision is contrary to efforts to de-escalate the situation and reduce tensions in relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

The US embassy in Pristina said that the decision of the local authorities in northern Kosovska Mitrovica for Serbian institutions to leave the building in Bosnjacka Mahala was not made in coordination with the international community, nor is it in accordance with its demands not to undertake actions that could escalate the situation.
