For Andrijana Sreckovic from Ljig picking plums turned into an extraordinary event, because in just a few hours she spent in the orchard, she became the definitive record holder in the number of ticks that got attached to her arms.

"After we returned home, I noticed dots on my skin, and realized they were ticks. I took out over 20 myself, and then I went to the doctor. The doctor removed as many as 103 more and said that she had never had a similar case, and that the largest number of ticks that she had removed up until then was about 30, while with me she had to deal with three times that number," Andrijana told RINA.

She was in the plum orchard with her family, but the insects only attached themselves to her to such an extent. Andrijana is now being told jokingly that it's good to hold a record in some category, but she would not agree with that because medical workers at the Ljig Healthcare Center spent two hours taking care of the bites.

"When it came time to disinfect the wounds with iodine, it was not possible to do it one by one, so the doctor literally spread iodine on my entire arms. I hope that this will pass without major consequences, but in any case I will be tested for the Lyme disease, to be on the safe side," says Andrijana.

This woman from Ljig owes special thanks to the nurse on duty and the doctor at the local Healthcare Center, who had the patience to remove every tick.
