Palma: "Let our youth never carry guns, but computers, Serbia fights for peace, Kurti causing war"
A memorial plaque was unveiled today in Koncarevo near Jagodina, dedicated to Vladimir Markovic, a member of the Yugoslav Army (VJ) who died on March 17, 1999, during a clash with Albanian terrorists in the village of Kabas near Prizren, in Kosovo and Metohija.
The memorial plaque was installed at the initiative of the association "The Heroic 549th Motorized Brigade Tsar Dusan the Mighty," with all expenses covered by the City of Jagodina.
Family members of Vladimir Markovic, representatives of the association itself, the City of Jagodina, those from the Ministry of Defense of Serbia, the Ministry of Labor, Social and Veteran Affairs, the Association of War Veterans, and of the Serbian Orthodox Church were all present.
The memorial plaque was unveiled by President of the Jagodina City Assembly Dragan "Palma" Markovic and member of the managing board of the association "The Heroic 549th Motorized Brigade Tsar Dusan the Mighty," Sasa Petkovic.
"The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which then consisted of Serbia and Montenegro, did not wage a war of conquest in Kosovo and Metohija (a Serbian province), but a war of defense against Albanian terrorists and NATO and some other countries whose goal was to seize Serbian territory. International law was violated then and is still being violated today. The most powerful states make decisions by a show of hands, not according to international law," Markovic said, and added:
"But today, a lot less countries recognize so-called independent Kosovo than 11, 12 years ago, thanks to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic. 25 countries have withdrawn their recognition of that fake state. I am sure that no Serbian politician will ever recognize Kosovo as independent. Serbia is constantly facing demands to sign that, pressure is present on a daily basis, but that will not happen. This will never be supported by United Serbia (JS, Markovic's party), and I'm sure neither the SPS (Socialists) nor the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
With that pressure, great Western powers want to defend and justify the (NATO) aggression carried out against our country in 1999. We will continue the fight, but not with a gun, instead with a pen and history and justice. The state leadership headed by Vucic and Dacic is fighting so that our youth never carry guns, but computers.
Albin Kurti is causing war every day, not only in Serbia but also in North Macedonia, and the international community should prevent him from doing this. It is our duty to honor and respect each fallen fighter for the freedom and defense of the homeland, Vladimir Markovic being one of them."
Brigadier General Stojan Konjikovac, who commanded a part of the 549th Motorized Brigade in Kosovo and Metohija, said that all the members of that brigade achieved great deeds in 1998 and 1999, the kind that deserve to be treated as eternal.
