Serbian wunderkind Adriana Vilagos speaks for Telegraf after gold in Jerusalem: "We'll be strong senior team"

The Serbian wunderkind, gold medal winner Adriana Vilagos, has landed in Belgrade. The European junior javelin throwing champion is back with a new medal, and the most brilliant one at that.

Our young athlete won the gold medal at the European Junior Championships in Jerusalem. With a shot in the fourth series of 58.38 meters, she reached the top spot and a new great success for Serbian athletics.

After this great success and landing in Belgrade, Adriana told Telegraf about her impressions.

"I'm very happy. This was a goal I fulfilled. After two silvers, gold followed. I can't say that I'm satisfied with the results, but the most important thing is the placement. I am very happy to be part of the national team. I hope that one day we will all be a strong senior squad," she pointed out and added:

"The final didn't really start as I planned. It was interesting. I am happy that I threw 58 meters, which is not a bad result. Moving on."

What follows is the championship in Budapest, and next year the Olympic Games in Paris.

"My goal is to get to the final. Yes. This season I am focused on the set goals. When we finish that, the preparations for the Olympic Games will start," Vilagos pointed out.

Vilagos secured the fourth medal for Serbia at the championship, the second gold, with a great shot in the fourth series (58.38 meters). She continued her streak of great results and added a European gold to a collection that includes two world junior golds, one European silver, as well as a senior silver from the European Championships last year in Munich.

Nikola Kostic, who finished the competition in fifth place in the 400 meters race, also gave his impressions upon his arrival in Belgrade.

"Honestly, our goals are much bigger. That medal was the goal from last year and the World Championship. Overall, the whole experience was amazing and next year we believe in new challenges. Next year we have the Olympic Games, the senior European championship. I will try as a junior to do well among the seniors on that big stage," said Kostic.
