A strong storm hit Slovenia on Friday, and it was dramatic in the town of Menges, which has approximately 5,550 inhabitants. There, local firefighters had to evacuate small children and their teachers from a kindergarten, reports 24sata.hr.

"We are informing the parents of the children from the Gobica kindergarten that we have successfully evacuated 22 children," reported the firefighters of PGD Menges.

They wrapped the terrified children in sheets and carried them through the water, which had already reached half the building.

"Well done, guys. Thank you for helping the children. You deserve an award," the moved citizens wrote to them.

It started raining heavily all over Slovenia last night. As meteorologists said, this caused floods and raised river levels. The situation is alarming, the floods have paralyzed traffic, and the situation will not settle down so quickly.

Hundreds of firefighters are on the ground across the country, and many people are trapped in their homes due to flooding. In Skofja Loka and some other towns, Slovenian army helicopters are deployed to rescue citizens.
