Novak "melting away" advantage of Alcaraz while vacationing in Dubrovnik, and reason is tournament in Croatia
After Wimbledon, the Spaniard has decided not to return to clay tournaments
These days, Novak Djokovic is vacationing on the Adriatic and "recharging his batteries" after losing the Wimbledon final to Carlos Alcaraz.
Until the next tournament, Novak has enough time to rest and completely "reset" at a mental level.
Fans had the opportunity to see Novak enjoying himself with his loved ones in Dubrovnik, where they arrived on a yacht.
But, even while resting and enjoying the seaside with his wife and children, Novak is "melting away" the ATP ranking advantage of Alcaraz.
After winning at Wimbledon, the Spaniard increased his advantage at the top spot and significantly moved away from Novak, but quickly, in the space of two weeks, lost first 300, and now another 150 points.
Namely, last year Alcaraz played the ATP tournament in Hamburg, and then in Umag, and reached the finals in both.
The Umag tournament is taking place this week, but Alcaraz has decided not to play in Croatia and not to return to the clay after the grass, so Novak will further "melt away" his rival's advantage on the next ATP ranking.
Alcaraz currently has 9,375 points, and next Monday will have 9,225. Since Novak has 8,795, the gap will drop by 430 points before the start of the US tour ahead of the US Open.
But Alcaraz will certainly have the opportunity to widen the gap between himself and Novak again, because he will play the Masters in Canada, unlike Djokovic, who decided to miss that.
Alcaraz defends only 10 points there, and he will be the main favorite and has a great chance to earn a huge number of points and get awy from Novak by the time the US Open is played, where Djokovic will have a chance to overtake him, because he is not defending anything there, unlike Alcaraz, who will be defending the title and 2,000 points.
