On July 19, at the Vatin border crossing, Serbian customs officers in cooperation with the police prevented an attempt by two travelers to smuggle almost 110,000 dollars in cash across the border.

The offense was discovered when a foreign-registered car with two passengers arrived at the entrance to the country and was inspected.

During the encounter with the customs officers, the driver and his passenger said that they were carrying just personal luggage and 10,000 euros (the allowed limit) in cash each, which they showed, according to a statement.

However, during the search, another 109,800 US dollars were found in several suitcases along with personal belongings, which the travelrs did not report.

They were given back the 10,000 euros each, while the remaining amount was kept until the end of misdemeanor proceedings.
