Almost 2,000 drivers removed traffic for using alcohol and psychoactive substances: Results of 7-day campaign
The traffic police, during the 7-day campaign ROADPOL, excluded 1,870 drivers from traffic for driving under the influence of alcohol and 60 drivers who were under the influence of psychoactive substances, the MUP announced.
This campaign was implemented in 30 European member countries of the ROADPOL organization (European road policing network).
During the campaign, more than 71,500 drivers were checked and a total of 14,027 violations were detected, while 377 drivers have been detained due to violations.
As part of the campaign, from Saturday, June 17 at 12 noon until Sunday, June 18 at 12 noon, the Alcohol & Drugs Marathon campaign was carried out, when all available breathalyzers and drug tests were put to use for traffic control over a period of 24 hours.
In just 24 hours, 608 drivers were excluded from traffic for driving under the influence of alcohol and 13 drivers for driving under the influence of psychoactive substances.
Considering that music festivals are coming up in Serbia, where a large number of visitors are expected, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) appeals on citizens not to drive under the influence of alcohol and psychoactive substances and to contribute to maintaining traffic safety through responsible behavior.
