Police of so-called Kosovo harasses Health Center doctors in Strpce: "They treated them like worst criminals"
Members of Kurti's Kosovo police harassed the doctors and medical staff of the Health Center in Strpce (a Serb enclave south of the Ibar) last night, as they were working in the field.
Namely, they were transporting, by ambulance, two young people injured in a traffic accident in Strpce to Kosovska Mitrovica. As they were returning, near Vucitrn, they were stopped by the Kosovo police whose vehicles had emergency lights on, and were treated as the worst criminals - said the Office for Kosovo and Metohija:
"They forced the healthcare workers to get out of the vehicle in the middle of the night, searched it, and then rudely questioned them about whether they had licenses and permits to work, and insulted and threatened them by saying things like, "this is not Serbia, this is the state of Kosovo," saying that they would not longer be able to do their jobs, trying to confiscate their vehicle."
As testified by the medical staff who experienced this mistreatment, the harassment they are exposed to is becoming more frequent, doctors are stopped without any reason, even while transporting patients, and this is the second time in a few days that their colleagues have been subjected to intimidation.
"In contrast to this kind of inhumane and uncivilized behavior, the health workers from the Strpce Health Center countless times transported injured Albanians in their ambulances, never treating patients differently because of their ethnicity," the statement added.
