Scandal: Olympic Committee of so-called Kosovo wants Djokovic sanctioned because of his message of peace
The Olympic Committee of so-called Kosovo has asked the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to start disciplinary proceedings against Novak Djokovic, accusing him of raising political tensions with his message "Kosovo is the heart of Serbia - stop to violence" written on a TV camera after his first round victory at the French Open.
Novak will certainly not be sanctioned by the tournament, who said it did not go against their rules, but earlier today the French sports minister "reprimanded" the Serbian ace and said that she hopes such messages "will not be repeated."
On the other hand, the Olympic Committee of so-called Kosovo continues to raise tensions and is now hoping to refer everything to a higher instance.
"Novak Djokovic once again promoted Serbian nationalist propaganda and used sport as a platform to do it," wrote Ismet Krasnici, president of the self-proclaimed Olympic Committee of so-called Kosovo, and continued:
"His subsequent statements at the (news) conference without a trace of regret directly affect an increase in tensions and violence between the two countries." And he wants an "immediate reaction" from the IOC and the start of disciplinary proceedings.
Reuters is reporting that the IOC did not respond when asked to comment on this.
