Serbs in Leposavic decorate KFOR's barbed wire and barricades with Serbian flags
Todic emphasized the people who gathered do not want any incidents, but only a return to normal daily activities
Serbs in Leposavic, one of the four predominantly Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija, who have been protesting for the second day, today decorated barbed wire and obstacles installed by KFOR near the municipality building with Serbian tricolors.
Zoran Todic, former president of Leposavic Municipality, and member of the presidency of the Serb List Slavko Simic earlier today conveyed to the commander of the US KFOR contingent the demands of the citizens who have been protesting in front of the local self-government since yesterday - that the units of the so-called Kosovo police withdraw, and that mayor Lulzim Hetemi (elected recently in contentious elections) leaves the municipality, Tanjug's correspondent reports.
Todic emphasized the people who gathered do not want any incidents, but only a return to normal daily activities.
Hetemi, who was elected in local elections boycotted by the majority Serbs, has been in the municipal building since yesterday.
The Serbs protesting in front of the premises in Leposavic are demanding the withdrawal of the special forces and the departure of the new mayor, whose authority they do not accept.
