Djokovics issue statement regarding Tennis Center Novak: "This is why we are returning land to Belgrade"

Serbia was recently shocked by the news that Novak Djokovic is returning the land in the Dorcol neighborhood where the Tennis Center Novak is located to the city of Belgrade.

Novak did not want to comment on this in Rome when asked by Telegraf and only announced that a statement will be issued soon, and that has now happened.

We carry it in its entirety:

"The company Tara 2016 S, owned by Novak and Jelena Djokovic, made a decision to return the land and facilities within the Tennis Center Novak in Dorcol to the City of Belgrade.

- We considered it for a long time and made the not-so-easy decision to stop working and managing the land, facilities and overseeing the tennis oasis after more than ten years. It is with great gratitude that we return the land to the City of Belgrade.

- In this place, tens of thousands of children practiced tennis and together with their parents created memories and successes that will last forever. We organized seven international ATP tournaments, one WTA tournament, received best marks for organization, and we sent out the most beautiful image of Belgrade, Kalemegdan and Serbia to the whole world. We are proud of that.

- We would like to thank all competent representatives of the local self-government, the City of Belgrade, the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Sports, the Tennis Association of Serbia, numerous companies for their enormous help and support during all the previous years. Thank you to the thousands of people who spent time in the tennis center and made progress together with us, creating unforgettable moments. Finally, we owe a huge thank you to our employees who believed in our project and vision. We are sure that this place will remain the sport soul of Dorcol and Belgrade.

- The management board of our company will focus its work on new projects, some of which will continue to deal with the tennis development of children and youth. The public will be informed about this in a timely manner," the press release issued by the company Tara 2016 S points out.
