The Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions strongly denies media allegations that the detained person V.K. (48) from Belgrade attempted suicide yesterday in the District Prison in Belgrade, where he has been in custody since May 5, 2023, following the decision of the Higher Court, where he is kept on suspicion of committing a serious offense against general safety.

The detainee V. K. did not violate the rules that apply to all persons in custody, nor did he endanger his life or the life of another person in any way.

Given that this is a person in detention, providing any information other than the above would be a violation of the Personal Data Protection Act. By inventing an event that did not happen, the public is further disturbed and misled, after already being shaken by a lot of misinformation that, unfortunately, found its place in the media after the tragic event that happened on May 3 in Elementary school Vladislav Ribnikar in Belgrade, they said.

The author of the news about the fabricated suicide attempt, as well as the media that reported it without first verifying the veracity of the allegations, violated the ethical principles of the profession because he deviated from the basic journalistic rule to report truthfully.

We call on the media to refrain from publishing untrue and unverified information and instead of sensationalism, put "due journalistic attention" first, as required by the Code of Journalists and the Law on Public Information and Media, the administration said.

This is about Vladimir K. (47), the father of the boy who committed the massacre at the school in Vracar, Belgrade.

The father was arrested immediately and detained for up 30 days. He was questioned at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office on suspicion of having committed a serious crime against general security.

It is suspected that Vladimir K. in the past trained his 13-year-old son K.K. to handle firearms and ammunition, by taking him to a shooting club to practice target shooting, despite the fact that the child was 13 years old and such activity and training is clearly inappropriate for his age.

Also, it is suspected that Vladimir K. acted contrary to the provisions of the Law on Arms and Ammunition and contrary to the Article of the Rulebook on Spatial Technical Conditions for Safe Storage of Weapons and Ammunition, because he did not provide conditions for safe storage of weapons and ammunition so that they could not come into the possession of unauthorized persons, i.e. they were not locked and separated in safes, cash registers or similar cabinets that cannot be opened easily.
