Traffic police to increase checks for Orthodox Easter: They will control THIS above all

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), Traffic Police Administration, will carry out an operation of increased control of road users from April 13 to 16, in order to preserve traffic safety on the roads during the upcoming Orthodox Easter holiday, when increased traffic intensity is expected on all important roads in Serbia.

The operation will be aimed at detecting and sanctioning offenses of driving under the influence of alcohol and psychoactive substances, speeding, illegal overtaking, failure to wear seat belts and inappropriate transportation of children in vehicles.

Also, because of the greater number of motorcycles and mopeds in traffic, the traffic police will focus their activities on detecting violations committed by the drivers of these vehicles.

The police warned citizens that during the Easter holiday, more people are killed in traffic accidents compared to regular circumstances, and last year during this holidays, six people lost their lives while 184 were injured.

In addition, in the period from April 17 to 23, in 30 European countries that are members of the European Roads Policing Network (ROADPOL), an international operation aimed at detecting speeding offenses will be carried out.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to all participants in traffic to celebrate the holiday responsibly and to make a direct contribution to road traffic safety by complying with traffic regulations, a statement said.
