8-year-old from Zvezdara was never taken to doctor, never saw the sun: Horror details of "bathtub child" case

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Serbia are looking for Uros Pasajlic (38), who is accused of keeping his daughter (8) as a "slave" in an apartment in Zvezdara, Belgrade, for years. The girl lived in a bathtub and as Telegraf has learned from a source from the investigation, she has never been to the doctor, nor has she been outside the apartment.

"The girl never went to the doctor for a check-up, never attended school, nor did she go outside. The neighbors never saw the child at all. She was found curled up in the bathtub, disoriented, malnourished... She was provided with the necessary medical care and then transferred to a shelter, therefore, her life is not in danger.

In addition, there have been allegations that the child's mother was seen near the apartment in Zvezdara. These allegations have not been confirmed, the mother has a prior conviction, she was legally deprived of the custody, she is an addict, so the authorities did not look for her, nor will they. They are waiting for him to be arrested," the source from the investigation of this case told us.

Meanwhile, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are looking for Uros Pasajlic (38) from Belgrade on suspicion of having committed the criminal acts of domestic violence, neglect and abuse of a minor, and violation of family obligations.

We are pleading with citizens to, if they recognize him from the photo or have any information about his movements, inform the police by calling 192 or 011-2751-630.

The 8-year-all was enslaved by her father Uros Pasalic for years in an apartment in Zvezdara, a Belgrade municipality. Telegraf has learned that the child was found curled up in a bathtub and disoriented.

"Two female police officers broke into the apartment and found the girl in the bathtub. She was curled up and disoriented. She could barely speak, and it is still unknown if she was allowed outside. There were several bags of snacks and the remains of mouldy food that the girl was eating in the bathtub. Also, there is a photograph showing a man and a girl, who are assumed to be Uros and the child," a source from the case told us.

The source added that the child was given to the father after the mother ended up in a psychiatric institution, because she, under the influence of narcotics, attacked her own mother.

Four days ago, the deputy public prosecutor from the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade was informed by police officers that Ivana L. (47) had come to the Palilula police station and reported violence perpetrated against her by her common-law husband Uros Pasajlic. The woman had visible injuries.

Namely, the deputy public prosecutor gave an order to police officers to forcibly enter the apartment, since no one was opening the door. The suspect was not in the apartment, but an 8-year-old girl was found, who was immediately sent for medical examinations and placed in the Home for Neglected Children, from where she was transferred to the Children's Clinic for further detailed examinations, since it was established that the child was malnourished and neglected.

On the order of the deputy public prosecutor, a search was immediately launched for Uros Pasalic, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of domestic violence, unlawful deprivation of liberty, as well as the criminal offense of neglect and abuse of a minor and violation of family obligations in relation to the child.

So far, the prosecution has found out that the girl was given to the father by a court, considering that the mother was previously a drug addict, and that the father was found to be a suitable parent.

After Uros Pasalic is arrested, he will be detained as ordered by the duty deputy public prosecutor on March 24, and he will be questioned within the legal timeframe regarding the circumstances of the criminal acts he is charged with.

The prosecution will then conduct evidentiary proceedings, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner.
