The Children's Shelter in Belgrade is appealing on citizens to, if they can, donate seasonal wardrobe - clothes and shoes for children aged five to 15.

A day-care teacher at the shelter, Ivana Popovic, told Tanjug that in the last few months there has been a noticeable increase in the number of children coming there, and that on a daily basis there are 150 children in the shelter's two locations in Belgrade.

"What the shelter needs the most at this moment is what we need all year round. These are underwear, socks, seasonal wardrobe - clothes and shoes, and we appeal also for donations of hygiene products, and sweets," said Popovic.

She adds that the shelter also needs volunteers and invited those interested to contact them through the website of the Center for Youth Integration, fill out the questionnaire for volunteering and join the team.

"Regarding the procedure itself, a certificate from dry cleaning is not required for clothes, it's enough that that they are clean, washed at home, undamaged and wearable - without any tears, for ages 5 to 15, but I appeal that we need seasonal wardrobe because we don't have a place to store winter and summer clothing donations (at the same time)," said Popovic.

She stressed that donations can be brought every day between 10 am and 6 pm to 7a Krfska Street, in Belgrade's Zvezdara municipality, as well as to the shelter located in New Belgrade, at 145 Arsenija Carnojevica Boulevard.
