The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the State of Serbia will work to create conditions to accompany the intense and historic changes in the automotive industry such as the electrification of vehicles, Minister Goran Vesic said at the opening of the 55th International Motor Show and the 15th International Fair of Motorcycles, Quads, Scooters and Equipment Motopassion, held at the Belgrade Fair

"For us as a Ministry, it is very important to ensure the conditions. As a state, we continue to pay subsidies for the purchase of electric cars, and from the first of January next year, we will start the deregistration process. We have secured 100 million euros for 140,000 cars that will be deregistered - these are cars with Euro 1, 2 and 3 engines, and for the owners to then buy a used car manufactured no earlier than in 2015 with a Euro 6 engine," said Vesic.

In our country, he added, there are about 560,000 cars with Euro 1, 2 and 3 engines, and about 2.8 million registered in the territory of Serbia, one million more than 10 years ago.

In the coming period, said Vesic, the Ministry plans to install around 100 new chargers for electric cars on highways and expressways themselves, and within the framework of the amendments to the Law on Planning and Construction, it will introduce the obligation that a certain number of places must have electric chargers during the construction of buildings.

"In addition, we are introducing the obligation of a certain number of chargers for electric cars at every gas station, we have started building smart highways, and the first such is the Morava Corridor, the first part of which we will open already at the end of March, beginning of April, and we will continue investing in and promoting electromobility," stressed Vesic.

After the opening, Minister Vesic visited the joint stand of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, public companies Roads of Serbia and Corridors of Serbia, and on that occasion took part in a simulation of a car turning over, prepared by the Ministry of Interior, and reiterated that wearing seat belts is extremely important in cases like this type of accident.
