Vucic: Serbia has never resorted to tricks, it will implement what it said it would
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today that Serbia has never resorted to any tricks and that it will implement what it has said it will do.
"That is my message to those who talked about that. Unlike all of them, we never use tricks. What I said in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, what I said to them in Ohrid, to them in Brussels and to the five in Belgrade, I repeat every day and my stance hasn't changed by an iota in front of anyone," Vucic said at a press conference held with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who is visiting on the occasion of the Forum for Business and Scientific Cooperation between Serbia and Italy.
Answering journalists' questions about whether Belgrade will implement what was agreed at the meeting in Orhrid, related to normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, the president said that something that he puts his signature or seal on is legally binding for Serbia, or when he agrees to it verbally, i.e., orally.
"And no one else can produce legal consequences for the Republic of Serbia except its president and, in some cases, the prime minister or the minister of foreign affairs," noted Vucic.
He added that Serbia will work on the implementation of everything that, as he put it, "it said it would do."
"I don't think that Pristina will fulfill its only obligation, which is to form the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) in accordance with the agreements reached in the dialogue. Therefore, everything that we said we would work on the implementation, we will do. What I said that we will not, I repeated that to Antonio Tajani today, so that there would be no corrupt and false interpretations and so that you would see that I am not at all afraid to say the exact same thing to everyone's face. I would ask some ministers from some countries to ask the chancellor (of Germany Olaf) Scholz and President (of France Emmanuel) Macron, whether I said that to their face or not," said Vucic.
He repeated that for Serbia, this means that so-called Kosovo's membership in the United Nations, as well as organizations, institutions and agencies of the UN is out of the question, and that there will be no recognition (of Kosovo by Serbia).
"Everything else that means real normalization of relations, which means normal relations between Serbs and Albanians, better relations, without tensions and conflicts, Serbia is ready to implement and Serbia will implement. And whether some others will, we will see, so I will soon ask them who used tricks and who didn't," the president stressed.
He added that as far as Serbia is concerned, it has its own word and that word means something.
"And I'm afraid that someone's signatures don't mean anything even to this day, because if that wasn't the case, then 10 years after the signing of the agreement we wouldn't still be talking about the ZSO, as we are today," said Vucic.
He added that it is not easy for him to put up with "the most disagreeable and incompetent guys in the country, who have destroyed the country."
"I will leave that for another day, I don't want to involve our guests in such matters. And they will get a well-deserved answer. Just as I don't think that Serbia should retreat and hide from anyone or that it has something to be ashamed of, so I have much less to be ashamed of than the worst ones in it who would destroy it within five minutes, and they will get their correct political answer," said Vucic.
