Chinese company damages Monument to Fallen Soldiers, minister orders: "Urgently reconstruct and restore it"
The monument has been damaged, Vesic said
Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic reacted today to the news that the contractor on the section of the Pakovraca-Pozega highway damaged a memorial dedicated to soldiers fallen in the Second World War.
He said that this was unacceptable and asked the company to urgently reconstruct the monument of historical importance for the citizens of that part of Serbia.
"Based on media reports and the report of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Kraljevo, I am aware that during the construction of the highway Pakovraca-Pozega, you damaged the Monument to Fallen Soldiers from the Second World War in the village of Negrisori. I was informed that during the weekend you proceeded to dismantle the monument without notifying the supervisory body and the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Kraljevo," said Minister Vesic.
On that occasion, the monument was damaged.
"You acted contrary to the contract, and the damage to the monument upset our citizens. I request that you to urgently, in accordance with the conditions of the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Kraljevo, reconstruct the monument, as well as to return the monument to the place where it was located or another suitable place in accordance with the Institute's decision," said Vesic.
As previously reported by the Ozonpress portal, the residents of the village of Negrisori are appalled, they do not believe that someone could have done something like this...
