Major police operation in Serbia: Mass arrests in 5 cities, 35 members of criminal groups "fall"

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), the Criminal Police Directorate - Crime Suppression Service and the Police Administration in Kraljevo, in cooperation with the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in this city, have arrested 35 people suspected of being members of criminal groups.

These groups are suspected of committing crimes of association for the purpose of committing criminal acts related to insurance fraud, the MUP has announced.

In a coordinated operation in the territory of Kraljevo, Cacak, Gornji Milanovac, Cajetina and Jagodina, the following persons were arrested: V.M. (36) from Cacak, S.M. (32), S.J. (6), M.D. (25), N.K. (23), V.R. (28) ), N.R. (43), S.P. (40), D.P.(39), M.A.(40), M.M.(63), S.A.(23), D.D. (28), D.T. (21), M.P. (22), N.F. (23), M.T. (22), L.P. (22), N.B. (44), A.B. (36), S.M.(46), M.P.(46), A.S.(32), S.D.(32), S.M.(), A.V. (35), B.M. (40), D.D. (39), M.S.(24), B.K.(46) and S.N.(22) from Kraljevo, M.M.(27) from Raska, N.B.(27) from Stara Pazova, Z.O.(27) from Gornji Milanovac and A.R. (27) from Jagodina.

Also, the police will file criminal complaints against seven persons, suspected of the same criminal acts, who are already serving prison sentences in regular procedure, while a search warrant has been issued for six more.

They are suspected of, in the period from 2020 to 2022, and according to a previous agreement, procuring used cars of little value which they then used to intentionally cause 12 traffic accidents, and then take money from insurance companies for alleged injuries suffered by the participants in these accidents. In six cases they managed to collected insurance money.

It is suspected that in this way they damaged the companies for a total of 4,478,930 dinars, which they spent to buy real estate.

The suspects have been brought before the Special Anti-Corruption Department of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Kraljevo, along with a criminal complaint.
