Vucevic on Serbia buying kamikaze drones: They would dramatically increase the lethal power of our Army
Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said that the arms fair in Abu Dhabi was significant for Serbia to conclude negotiations with an Emirati company regarding the purchase of kamikaze drones and other types of drones, in order to further strengthen the Serbian Army with something that we did not have until now.
This would further dramatically increase the lethal power of our Army, says the minister.
Vucevic stressed that the arms fair was fantastic, that they managed to gather the whole world under incredible circumstances, in addition to the Western countries there were also representatives from China, Russia and India.
"Serbia had a significant presence there. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed visited our stand and stayed for more than an hour. He visited only a few stands. Serbia is seen as a serious partner. It was important for us to conclude negotiations with an Emirati company about those kamikaze drones and other types of drones and additionally strengthen the Army with something we haven't had until now," the minister told RTS.
According to him, this would further strengthen the Serbian Army, dramatically increase the lethal power of our Army.
"Let's not ignore the fact that our defense industry is also developing certain unmanned aerial vehicles. I hope that we will soon have serious production of those drones in Serbia," says Vucevic.
He noted that the world is interested in everything that is produced in Serbia.
"We have sold everything we have and we could sell ten times more. We have to invest in new plants, new lines and are creating jobs," says Vucevic.
He stressed that our policy remains to find out whi the final customer is, and not to send armaments and military equipment to the front, but we have the right to sell our products.
In order to strengthen and modernize the Army, a call to join special units of the Arm was made on Statehood Day. Vucevic says that the applications can be submitted until March 31 and he invited all boys and girls under 30 to apply and test themselves. He noted that on the first day alone, they had several hundred inquiries regarding one unit.
He referred to the criticism that the Army modernization project will cost a lot, and asked how much freedom, peace and homeland cost.
"In addition to a strong segment of patriotism and emotions towards their country, the state offers very good conditions when working in those units. The starting salary is 220,000 dinars, and then you add everything, on-duty, field work, night work. They can work on their education. I believe in this project. As the minister of defense, I am absolutely ready to implement this project. Because if we were to analyze all philosophical debates for another 10 years, we would not get anywhere. I welcome all those who philosophize from living rooms and TV studios, but first they must analyze life and reality," says the minister.
He believes that investment in the Army is an investment in all of us.
"In order not to pay for someone else's Army and not to lose the state, peace and freedom, this is an investment in all of us, not the squandering and spending money," says the minister.
When it comes to the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he says that it is challenging and very difficult.
Speaking about the war in Ukraine, he noted that Serbia is wants that fratricidal war to end.
